Jeremiah Project 51 is a non-profit organization that is an anti-bullying project. We are here to help anyone who has ever been teased, taunted, or made fun of. Jeremiah Project 51 was formed because a beautiful young boy, named Jeremiah Lasater, went into a school bathroom on October 20th and took his life with a single shot to the head. He was a target of bullying. He'd finally had enough . . . Jeremiah was only 14 years old. Jeremiah, who stood 6 feet 6 inches tall and weight 275 pounds was a special education student. Wearing the number 51 on his jersey, he played on the Junior Varsity football team and, while he wasn't the best player on the team, he tried hard and never gave up. He wasn't the fastest, but he worked hard to make sure he wasn't the last to finish. School and homework were difficult for Jeremiah, but he never gave up. He was a gentle giant with a bright smile, kind demeanor, and a big heart. He was like most 14-year-old kids. You see, bullying does not just happen to one type of kid, it can happen to anyone. Some people think being targeted by bullies is a part of growing up, a "rite of passage." But, its not. Its like a cancer and we need to cut it out. We cannot bring Jeremiah back, but we can help others by working together to stop bullying. Bullies Leave Bruises on the Inside
Hopefully this website will help anyone who has ever been bullied. There IS help. We are not going away . . . we are here for you. |
